ואשוב ואשא עיני ואראה והנה מגלה עפה׃ |
Then I turned, and lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a flying roll. | Then again I lifted up my eyes, and saw, and behold, a flying scroll. | Then again lifting up my eyes I saw a roll in flight through the air. | |||

ויאמר אלי מה אתה ראה ואמר אני ראה מגלה עפה ארכה עשרים באמה ורחבה עשר באמה׃ |
And he said unto me, What seest thou? And I answered, I see a flying roll; the length thereof is twenty cubits, and the breadth thereof ten cubits. | He said to me, "What do you see?" I answered, "I see a flying scroll; its length is twenty cubits, and its breadth ten cubits." | And he said to me, What do you see? And I said, A roll going through the air; it is twenty cubits long and ten cubits wide. | |||

ויאמר אלי זאת האלה היוצאת על־פני כל־הארץ כי כל־הגנב מזה כמוה נקה וכל־הנשבע מזה כמוה נקה׃ |
Then said he unto me, This is the curse that goeth forth over the face of the whole earth: for every one that stealeth shall be cut off as on this side according to it; and every one that sweareth shall be cut off as on that side according to it. | Then he said to me, "This is the curse that goes out over the surface of the whole land; for everyone who steals shall be cut off according to it on the one side; and everyone who swears falsely shall be cut off according to it on the other side. | Then he said to me, This is the curse which goes out over the face of all the land: for long enough has every thief gone without punishment, and long enough has every taker of false oaths gone without punishment. | |||

הוצאתיה נאם יהוה צבאות ובאה אל־בית הגנב ואל־בית הנשבע בשמי לשקר ולנה בתוך ביתו וכלתו ואת־עציו ואת־אבניו׃ |
I will bring it forth, saith the LORD of hosts, and it shall enter into the house of the thief, and into the house of him that sweareth falsely by my name: and it shall remain in the midst of his house, and shall consume it with the timber thereof and the stones thereof. | I will cause it to go out," says Yahweh of Armies, "and it will enter into the house of the thief, and into the house of him who swears falsely by my name; and it will remain in the midst of his house, and will destroy it with its timber and its stones." | And I will send it out, says the Lord of armies, and it will go into the house of the thief and into the house of him who takes a false oath by my name: and it will be in his house, causing its complete destruction, with its woodwork and its stones. | |||

ויצא המלאך הדבר בי ויאמר אלי שא נא עיניך וראה מה היוצאת הזאת׃ |
Then the angel that talked with me went forth, and said unto me, Lift up now thine eyes, and see what is this that goeth forth. | Then the angel who talked with me came forward, and said to me, "Lift up now your eyes, and see what is this that is appearing." | And the angel who was talking to me went out and said to me, Let your eyes be lifted up now, and see the ephah which is going out. | |||

ואמר מה־היא ויאמר זאת האיפה היוצאת ויאמר זאת עינם בכל־הארץ׃ |
And I said, What is it? And he said, This is an ephah that goeth forth. He said moreover, This is their resemblance through all the earth. | I said, "What is it?" He said, "This is the ephah{ An ephah is a measure of volume of about 22 litres, 5.8 U. S. gallons, or about 2/3 of a bushel. } basket that is appearing." He said moreover, "This is their appearance in all the land | And I said, What is it? And he said, This is an ephah which is going out. And he said further, This is their evil-doing in all the land. | |||

והנה ככר עפרת נשאת וזאת אשה אחת יושבת בתוך האיפה׃ |
And, behold, there was lifted up a talent of lead: and this is a woman that sitteth in the midst of the ephah. | (and behold, a talent{A talent is a weight of about 34 kilograms or 75 pounds.} of lead was lifted up); and this is a woman sitting in the midst of the ephah basket." | And I saw a round cover of lead lifted up; and a woman was seated in the middle of the ephah. | |||

ויאמר זאת הרשעה וישלך אתה אל־תוך האיפה וישלך את־אבן העפרת אל־ פיה׃ |
And he said, This is wickedness. And he cast it into the midst of the ephah; and he cast the weight of lead upon the mouth thereof. | He said, "This is Wickedness;" and he threw her down into the midst of the ephah basket; and he threw the weight of lead on its mouth. | And he said, This is Sin; and pushing her down into the ephah, he put the weight of lead on the mouth of it. | |||

ואשא עיני וארא והנה שתים נשים יוצאות ורוח בכנפיהם ולהנה כנפים ככנפי החסידה ותשאנה את־האיפה בין הארץ ובין השמים׃ |
Then lifted I up mine eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came out two women, and the wind was in their wings; for they had wings like the wings of a stork: and they lifted up the ephah between the earth and the heaven. | Then lifted I up my eyes, and saw, and behold, there were two women, and the wind was in their wings. Now they had wings like the wings of a stork, and they lifted up the ephah basket between earth and the sky. | And lifting up my eyes I saw two women coming out, and the wind was in their wings; and they had wings like the wings of a stork: and they took the ephah, lifting it up between earth and heaven. | |||

ואמר אל־המלאך הדבר בי אנה המה מולכות את־האיפה׃ |
Then said I to the angel that talked with me, Whither do these bear the ephah? | Then said I to the angel who talked with me, "Where are these carrying the ephah basket?" | And I said to the angel who was talking to me, Where are they taking the ephah? | |||

ויאמר אלי לבנות־לה בית בארץ שנער והוכן והניחה שם על־מכנתה׃ |
And he said unto me, To build it an house in the land of Shinar: and it shall be established, and set there upon her own base. | He said to me, "To build her a house in the land of Shinar. When it is prepared, she will be set there in her own place." | And he said to me, To make a house for her in the land of Shinar: and they will make a place ready, and put her there in the place which is hers. | |||
