1.    Now it happened on the third day that Esther put on her royal clothing, and stood in the inner court of the king's house, next to the king's house. The king sat on his royal throne in the royal house, next to the entrance of the house.     Now it came to pass on the third day, that Esther put on her royal apparel, and stood in the inner court of the king's house, over against the king's house: and the king sat upon his royal throne in the royal house, over against the gate of the house.     ויהי  ביום  השלישי

    VYHY BYVM HShLYShY VThLBSh 'aSThUr MLKVTh VTh'yMD BChTShUr BYTh-HMLK HPhNYMYTh NKCh BYTh HMLK VHMLK YVShB 'yL-KS'a MLKVThV BBYTh HMLKVTh NKCh PhThCh HBYTh.     And it cometh to pass on the third day, that Esther putteth on royalty, and standeth in the inner-court of the house of the king over-against the house of the king, and the king is sitting on his royal throne, in the royal-house, over-against the opening of the house,     die autem tertio induta est Hester regalibus vestimentis et stetit in atrio domus regiae quod erat interius contra basilicam regis at ille sedebat super solium in consistorio palatii contra ostium domus
 
2.    When the king saw Esther the queen standing in the court, she obtained favor in his sight; and the king held out to Esther the golden scepter that was in his hand. So Esther came near, and touched the top of the scepter.     And it was so, when the king saw Esther the queen standing in the court, that she obtained favour in his sight: and the king held out to Esther the golden sceptre that was in his hand. So Esther drew near, and touched the top of the sceptre.     ויהי  כראות  המלך 
את־אסתר  המלכה
עמדת  בחצר  נשאה  חן
בעיניו  ויושט  המלך
לאסתר  את־שרביט
הזהב  אשר  בידו
ותקרב  אסתר  ותגע
בראש  השרביט׃
    VYHY KUr'aVTh HMLK 'aTh-'aSThUr HMLKH 'yMDTh BChTShUr NSh'aH ChN B'yYNYV VYVShT HMLK L'aSThUr 'aTh-ShUrBYT HZHB 'aShUr BYDV VThQUrB 'aSThUr VThG'y BUr'aSh HShUrBYT.     and it cometh to pass, at the king`s seeing Esther the queen standing in the court, she hath received grace in his eyes, and the king holdeth out to Esther the golden sceptre that is in his hand, and Esther draweth near, and toucheth the top of the sceptre.     cumque vidisset Hester reginam stantem placuit oculis eius et extendit contra eam virgam auream quam tenebat manu quae accedens osculata est summitatem virgae eius
 
3.    Then the king asked her, "What would you like, queen Esther? What is your request? It shall be given you even to the half of the kingdom."     Then said the king unto her, What wilt thou, queen Esther? and what is thy request? it shall be even given thee to the half of the kingdom.     ויאמר  לה  המלך 
מה־לך  אסתר  המלכה
ומה־בקשתך  עד־חצי
המלכות  וינתן  לך׃
    VY'aMUr LH HMLK MH-LK 'aSThUr HMLKH VMH-BQShThK 'yD-ChTShY HMLKVTh VYNThN LK.     And the king saith to her, `What -- to thee Esther, O queen? and what thy request? unto the half of the kingdom -- and it is given to thee.`     dixitque ad eam rex quid vis Hester regina quae est petitio tua etiam si dimidiam regni partem petieris dabitur tibi
 
4.    Esther said, "If it seems good to the king, let the king and Haman come today to the banquet that I have prepared for him."     And Esther answered, If it seem good unto the king, let the king and Haman come this day unto the banquet that I have prepared for him.     ותאמר  אסתר 
אם־על־המלך  טוב
יבוא  המלך  והמן
היום  אל־המשתה
אשר־  עשיתי  לו׃
    VTh'aMUr 'aSThUr 'aM-'yL-HMLK TVB YBV'a HMLK VHMN HYVM 'aL-HMShThH 'aShUr- 'yShYThY LV.     And Esther saith, `If unto the king it be good, the king doth come in, and Haman, to-day, unto the banquet that I have made for him;`     at illa respondit si regi placet obsecro ut venias ad me hodie et Aman tecum ad convivium quod paravi
 
5.    Then the king said, "Bring Haman quickly, so that it may be done as Esther has said." So the king and Haman came to the banquet that Esther had prepared.     Then the king said, Cause Haman to make haste, that he may do as Esther hath said. So the king and Haman came to the banquet that Esther had prepared.     ויאמר  המלך  מהרו 
את־המן  לעשות
את־דבר  אסתר  ויבא
המלך  והמן  אל־
המשתה  אשר־עשתה
אסתר׃
    VY'aMUr HMLK MHUrV 'aTh-HMN L'yShVTh 'aTh-DBUr 'aSThUr VYB'a HMLK VHMN 'aL- HMShThH 'aShUr-'yShThH 'aSThUr.     and the king saith, `Haste ye Haman -- to do the word of Esther;` and the king cometh in, and Haman, unto the banquet that Esther hath made.     statimque rex vocate inquit cito Aman ut Hester oboediat voluntati venerunt itaque rex et Aman ad convivium quod eis regina paraverat
 
6.    The king said to Esther at the banquet of wine, "What is your petition? It shall be granted you. What is your request? Even to the half of the kingdom it shall be performed."     And the king said unto Esther at the banquet of wine, What is thy petition? and it shall be granted thee: and what is thy request? even to the half of the kingdom it shall be performed.     ויאמר  המלך  לאסתר 
במשתה  היין
מה־שאלתך  וינתן  לך
ומה־בקשתך  עד־  חצי
המלכות  ותעש׃
    VY'aMUr HMLK L'aSThUr BMShThH HYYN MH-Sh'aLThK VYNThN LK VMH-BQShThK 'yD- ChTShY HMLKVTh VTh'ySh.     And the king saith to Esther, during the banquet of wine, `What is thy petition? and it is given to thee; and what thy request? unto the half of the kingdom -- and it is done.`     dixitque ei rex postquam vinum biberat abundanter quid petis ut detur tibi et pro qua re postulas etiam si dimidiam partem regni mei petieris inpetrabis
 
7.    Then Esther answered and said, "My petition and my request is this.     Then answered Esther, and said, My petition and my request is;     ותען  אסתר  ותאמר 
שאלתי  ובקשתי׃
    VTh'yN 'aSThUr VTh'aMUr Sh'aLThY VBQShThY.     And Esther answereth and saith, `My petition and my request is:     cui respondit Hester petitio mea et preces istae sunt
 
8.    If I have found favor in the sight of the king, and if it please the king to grant my petition and to perform my request, let the king and Haman come to the banquet that I will prepare for them, and I will do tomorrow as the king has said."     If I have found favour in the sight of the king, and if it please the king to grant my petition, and to perform my request, let the king and Haman come to the banquet that I shall prepare for them, and I will do to morrow as the king hath said.     אם־מצאתי  חן  בעיני

    'aM-MTSh'aThY ChN B'yYNY HMLK V'aM-'yL-HMLK TVB LThTh 'aTh-Sh'aLThY VL'yShVTh 'aTh- BQShThY YBV'a HMLK VHMN 'aL-HMShThH 'aShUr 'a'yShH LHM VMChUr 'a'yShH KDBUr HMLK.     if I have found grace in the eyes of the king, and if unto the king it be good, to give my petition, and to perform my request, the king doth come, and Haman, unto the banquet that I make for them, and to-morrow I do according to the word of the king.`     si inveni gratiam in conspectu regis et si regi placet ut det mihi quod postulo et meam impleat petitionem veniat rex et Aman ad convivium quod paravi eis et cras regi aperiam voluntatem meam
 
9.    Then Haman went out that day joyful and glad of heart, but when Haman saw Mordecai in the king's gate, that he didn't stand up nor move for him, he was filled with wrath against Mordecai.     Then went Haman forth that day joyful and with a glad heart: but when Haman saw Mordecai in the king's gate, that he stood not up, nor moved for him, he was full of indignation against Mordecai.     ויצא  המן  ביום 
ההוא  שמח  וטוב  לב
וכראות  המן
את־מרדכי  בשער
המלך  ולא־קם
ולא־זע  ממנו  וימלא
המן  על־מרדכי  חמה׃
    VYTSh'a HMN BYVM HHV'a ShMCh VTVB LB VKUr'aVTh HMN 'aTh-MUrDKY BSh'yUr HMLK VL'a-QM VL'a-Z'y MMNV VYML'a HMN 'yL-MUrDKY ChMH.     And Haman goeth forth on that day rejoicing and glad in heart, and at Haman`s seeing Mordecai in the gate of the king, and he hath not risen nor moved for him, then is Haman full of fury against Mordecai.     egressus est itaque illo die Aman laetus et alacer cumque vidisset Mardocheum sedentem ante fores palatii et non solum non adsurrexisse sibi sed nec motum quidem de loco sessionis suae indignatus est valde
 
10.    Nevertheless Haman restrained himself, and went home. There, he sent and called for his friends and Zeresh his wife.     Nevertheless Haman refrained himself: and when he came home, he sent and called for his friends, and Zeresh his wife.     ויתאפק  המן  ויבוא 
אל־ביתו  וישלח
ויבא  את־אהביו
ואת־זרש  אשתו׃
    VYTh'aPhQ HMN VYBV'a 'aL-BYThV VYShLCh VYB'a 'aTh-'aHBYV V'aTh-ZUrSh 'aShThV.     And Haman forceth himself, and cometh in unto his house, and sendeth, and bringeth in his friends, and Zeresh his wife,     et dissimulata ira reversus in domum suam convocavit ad se amicos et Zares uxorem suam
 
11.    Haman recounted to them the glory of his riches, the multitude of his children, all the things in which the king had promoted him, and how he had advanced him above the princes and servants of the king.     And Haman told them of the glory of his riches, and the multitude of his children, and all the things wherein the king had promoted him, and how he had advanced him above the princes and servants of the king.     ויספר  להם  המן

    VYSPhUr LHM HMN 'aTh-KBVD 'yShUrV VUrB BNYV V'aTh KL-'aShUr GDLV HMLK V'aTh 'aShUr NSh'aV 'yL-HShUrYM V'yBDY HMLK.     and Haman recounteth to them the glory of his wealth, and the abundance of his sons, and all that with which the king made him great, and with which he lifted him up above the heads and servants of the king.     et exposuit illis magnitudinem divitiarum suarum filiorumque turbam et quanta eum gloria super omnes principes et servos suos rex elevasset
 
12.    Haman also said, "Yes, Esther the queen let no man come in with the king to the banquet that she had prepared but myself; and tomorrow I am also invited by her together with the king.     Haman said moreover, Yea, Esther the queen did let no man come in with the king unto the banquet that she had prepared but myself; and to morrow am I invited unto her also with the king.     ויאמר  המן  אף 
לא־הביאה  אסתר
המלכה  עם־המלך
אל־המשתה  אשר־עשתה
כי  אם־אותי
וגם־למחר  אני
קרוא־לה  עם־המלך׃
    VY'aMUr HMN 'aPh L'a-HBY'aH 'aSThUr HMLKH 'yM-HMLK 'aL-HMShThH 'aShUr-'yShThH KY 'aM-'aVThY VGM-LMChUr 'aNY QUrV'a-LH 'yM-HMLK.     And Haman saith, `Yea, Esther the queen brought none in with the king, unto the feast that she made, except myself, and also for to-morrow I am called to her, with the king,     et post haec ait regina quoque Hester nullum alium vocavit cum rege ad convivium praeter me apud quam etiam cras cum rege pransurus sum
 
13.    Yet all this avails me nothing, so long as I see Mordecai the Jew sitting at the king's gate."     Yet all this availeth me nothing, so long as I see Mordecai the Jew sitting at the king's gate.     וכל־זה  איננו  שוה 
לי  בכל־עת  אשר  אני
ראה  את־מרדכי
היהודי  יושב  בשער
המלך׃
    VKL-ZH 'aYNNV ShVH LY BKL-'yTh 'aShUr 'aNY Ur'aH 'aTh-MUrDKY HYHVDY YVShB BSh'yUr HMLK.     and all this is not profitable to me, during all the time that I am seeing Mordecai the Jew sitting in the gate of the king.`     et cum haec omnia habeam nihil me habere puto quamdiu videro Mardocheum Iudaeum sedentem ante fores regias
 
14.    Then Zeresh his wife and all his friends said to him, "Let a gallows be made fifty cubits high, and in the morning speak to the king about hanging Mordecai on it. Then go in merrily with the king to the banquet." This pleased Haman, so he had the gallows made.     Then said Zeresh his wife and all his friends unto him, Let a gallows be made of fifty cubits high, and to morrow speak thou unto the king that Mordecai may be hanged thereon: then go thou in merrily with the king unto the banquet. And the thing pleased Haman; and he caused the gallows to be made.     ותאמר  לו  זרש  אשתו 
וכל־אהביו  יעשו־עץ
גבה  חמשים  אמה
ובבקר  אמר  למלך
ויתלו  את־מרדכי
עליו  ובא־עם־המלך
אל־המשתה  שמח
וייטב  הדבר  לפני
המן  ויעש  העץ׃
    VTh'aMUr LV ZUrSh 'aShThV VKL-'aHBYV Y'yShV-'yTSh GBH ChMShYM 'aMH VBBQUr 'aMUr LMLK VYThLV 'aTh-MUrDKY 'yLYV VB'a-'yM-HMLK 'aL-HMShThH ShMCh VYYTB HDBUr LPhNY HMN VY'ySh H'yTSh.     And Zeresh his wife saith to him, and all his friends, `Let them prepare a tree, in height fifty cubits, and in the morning speak to the king, and they hang Mordecai on it, and go thou in with the king unto the banquet rejoicing;` and the thing is good before Haman, and he prepareth the tree.     responderuntque ei Zares uxor eius et ceteri amici iube parari excelsam trabem habentem altitudinem quinquaginta cubitos et dic mane regi ut adpendatur super eam Mardocheus et sic ibis cum rege laetus ad convivium placuit ei consilium et iussit excelsam parari crucem
