1.    {A Prayer of the afflicted, when he is overwhelmed and pours out his complaint before Yahweh.} Hear my prayer, Yahweh! Let my cry come to you.     Hear my prayer, O LORD, and let my cry come unto thee.     תפלה  לעני  כי־יעטף 
ולפני  יהוה  ישפך
שיחו׃
    ThPhLH L'yNY KY-Y'yTPh VLPhNY YHVH YShPhK ShYChV.     A Prayer of the afflicted when he is feeble, and before Jehovah poureth out his plaint.     oratio pauperis quando sollicitus fuerit et coram Domino fuderit eloquium suum
 
2.    Don't hide your face from me in the day of my distress. Turn your ear to me. Answer me quickly in the day when I call.     Hide not thy face from me in the day when I am in trouble; incline thine ear unto me: in the day when I call answer me speedily.     יהוה  שמעה  תפלתי 
ושועתי  אליך  תבוא׃
    YHVH ShM'yH ThPhLThY VShV'yThY 'aLYK ThBV'a.     O Jehovah, hear my prayer, yea, my cry to Thee cometh.     Domine audi orationem meam et clamor meus ad te veniat
 
3.    For my days consume away like smoke. My bones are burned as a torch.     For my days are consumed like smoke, and my bones are burned as an hearth.     אל־תסתר  פניך  ממני 
ביום  צר  לי
הטה־אלי  אזנך  ביום
אקרא  מהר  ענני׃
    'aL-ThSThUr PhNYK MMNY BYVM TShUr LY HTH-'aLY 'aZNK BYVM 'aQUr'a MHUr 'yNNY.     Hide not Thou Thy face from me, In a day of mine adversity, Incline unto me Thine ear, In the day I call, haste, answer me.     ne abscondas faciem tuam a me in die tribulationis meae inclina ad me aurem tuam in quacumque die invocavero velociter exaudi me
 
4.    My heart is blighted like grass, and withered, for I forget to eat my bread.     My heart is smitten, and withered like grass; so that I forget to eat my bread.     כי־כלו  בעשן  ימי 
ועצמותי  כמו־קד
נחרו׃
    KY-KLV B'yShN YMY V'yTShMVThY KMV-QD NChUrV.     For consumed in smoke have been my days, And my bones as a fire-brand have burned.     quoniam consumpti sunt sicut fumus dies mei et ossa mea quasi frixa contabuerunt
 
5.    By reason of the voice of my groaning, my bones stick to my skin.     By reason of the voice of my groaning my bones cleave to my skin.     הוכה־כעשב  ויבש 
לבי  כי־שכחתי  מאכל
לחמי׃
    HVKH-K'yShB VYBSh LBY KY-ShKChThY M'aKL LChMY.     Smitten as the herb, and withered, is my heart, For I have forgotten to eat my bread.     percussum est quasi faenum et arefactum est cor meum quia oblitus sum comedere panem meum
 
6.    I am like a pelican of the wilderness. I have become as an owl of the waste places.     I am like a pelican of the wilderness: I am like an owl of the desert.     מקול  אנחתי  דבקה 
עצמי  לבשרי׃
    MQVL 'aNChThY DBQH 'yTShMY LBShUrY.     From the voice of my sighing Hath my bone cleaved to my flesh.     a voce gemitus mei adhesit os meum carni meae
 
7.    I watch, and have become like a sparrow that is alone on the housetop.     I watch, and am as a sparrow alone upon the house top.     דמיתי  לקאת  מדבר 
הייתי  ככוס  חרבות׃
    DMYThY LQ'aTh MDBUr HYYThY KKVS ChUrBVTh.     I have been like to a pelican of the wilderness, I have been as an owl of the dry places.     adsimilatus sum pelicano deserti factus sum quasi bubo solitudinum
 
8.    My enemies reproach me all day. Those who are mad at me use my name as a curse.     Mine enemies reproach me all the day; and they that are mad against me are sworn against me.     שקדתי  ואהיה  כצפור 
בודד  על־גג׃
    ShQDThY V'aHYH KTShPhVUr BVDD 'yL-GG.     I have watched, and I am As a bird alone on the roof.     vigilavi et fui sicut avis solitaria super tectum
 
9.    For I have eaten ashes like bread, and mixed my drink with tears,     For I have eaten ashes like bread, and mingled my drink with weeping,     כל־היום  חרפוני 
אויבי  מהוללי  בי
נשבעו׃
    KL-HYVM ChUrPhVNY 'aVYBY MHVLLY BY NShB'yV.     All the day mine enemies reproached me, Those mad at me have sworn against me.     tota die exprobrabant mihi inimici mei exultantes per me iurabant
 
10.    Because of your indignation and your wrath, for you have taken me up, and thrown me away.     Because of thine indignation and thy wrath: for thou hast lifted me up, and cast me down.     כי־אפר  כלחם  אכלתי 
ושקוי  בבכי  מסכתי׃
    KY-'aPhUr KLChM 'aKLThY VShQVY BBKY MSKThY.     Because ashes as bread I have eaten, And my drink with weeping have mingled,     quia cinerem sicut panem comedi et potum meum cum fletu miscui
 
11.    My days are like a long shadow. I have withered like grass.     My days are like a shadow that declineth; and I am withered like grass.     מפני־זעמך  וקצפך 
כי  נשאתני
ותשליכני׃
    MPhNY-Z'yMK VQTShPhK KY NSh'aThNY VThShLYKNY.     From Thine indignation and Thy wrath, For Thou hast lifted me up, And dost cast me down.     a facie indignationis et irae tuae quia elevasti me et adlisisti me
 
12.    But you, Yahweh, will abide forever; your renown endures to all generations.     But thou, O LORD, shalt endure for ever; and thy remembrance unto all generations.     ימי  כצל  נטוי  ואני 
כעשב  איבש׃
    YMY KTShL NTVY V'aNY K'yShB 'aYBSh.     My days as a shadow are stretched out, And I -- as the herb I am withered.     dies mei quasi umbra inclinati sunt et ego quasi faenum arui
 
13.    You will arise and have mercy on Zion; for it is time to have pity on her. Yes, the set time has come.     Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is come.     ואתה  יהוה  לעולם 
תשב  וזכרך  לדר
ודר׃
    V'aThH YHVH L'yVLM ThShB VZKUrK LDUr VDUr.     And Thou, O Jehovah, to the age abidest, And Thy memorial to all generations.     tu autem Domine in aeternum permanes memoriale tuum in generatione et generatione
 
14.    For your servants take pleasure in her stones, and have pity on her dust.     For thy servants take pleasure in her stones, and favour the dust thereof.     אתה  תקום  תרחם 
ציון  כי־עת  לחננה
כי־בא  מועד׃
    'aThH ThQVM ThUrChM TShYVN KY-'yTh LChNNH KY-B'a MV'yD.     Thou -- Thou risest -- Thou pitiest Zion, For the time to favour her, For the appointed time hath come.     tu suscitans misereberis Sion quia tempus est ut miserearis eius quoniam venit tempus quoniam venit pactum
 
15.    So the nations will fear the name of Yahweh; all the kings of the earth your glory.     So the heathen shall fear the name of the LORD, and all the kings of the earth thy glory.     כי־רצו  עבדיך 
את־אבניה  ואת־עפרה
יחננו׃
    KY-UrTShV 'yBDYK 'aTh-'aBNYH V'aTh-'yPhUrH YChNNV.     For Thy servants have been pleased with her stones, And her dust they favour.     quoniam placitos fecerunt servi tui lapides eius et pulverem eius miserabilem
 
16.    For Yahweh has built up Zion. He has appeared in his glory.     When the LORD shall build up Zion, he shall appear in his glory.     וייראו  גוים  את־שם 
יהוה  וכל־מלכי
הארץ  את־כבודך׃
    VYYUr'aV GVYM 'aTh-ShM YHVH VKL-MLKY H'aUrTSh 'aTh-KBVDK.     And nations fear the name of Jehovah, And all kings of the earth Thine honour,     et timebunt gentes nomen Domini et universi reges terrae gloriam tuam
 
17.    He has responded to the prayer of the destitute, and has not despised their prayer.     He will regard the prayer of the destitute, and not despise their prayer.     כי־בנה  יהוה  ציון 
נראה  בכבודו׃
    KY-BNH YHVH TShYVN NUr'aH BKBVDV.     For Jehovah hath builded Zion, He hath been seen in His honour,     quia aedificavit Dominus Sion apparuit in gloria sua
 
18.    This will be written for the generation to come. A people which will be created will praise Yah.     This shall be written for the generation to come: and the people which shall be created shall praise the LORD.     פנה  אל־תפלת  הערער 
ולא־בזה  את־תפלתם׃
    PhNH 'aL-ThPhLTh H'yUr'yUr VL'a-BZH 'aTh-ThPhLThM.     He turned unto the prayer of the destitute, And He hath not despised their prayer.     respexit ad orationem vacui et non dispexit orationem eorum
 
19.    For he has looked down from the height of his sanctuary. From heaven, Yahweh saw the earth;     For he hath looked down from the height of his sanctuary; from heaven did the LORD behold the earth;     תכתב  זאת  לדור 
אחרון  ועם  נברא
יהלל־יה׃
    ThKThB Z'aTh LDVUr 'aChUrVN V'yM NBUr'a YHLL-YH.     This is written for a later generation, And the people created do praise Jah.     scribatur hoc in generatione novissima et populus qui creabitur laudabit Dominum
 
20.    to hear the groans of the prisoner; to free those who are condemned to death;     To hear the groaning of the prisoner; to loose those that are appointed to death;     כי־השקיף  ממרום 
קדשו  יהוה  משמים
אל־ארץ  הביט׃
    KY-HShQYPh MMUrVM QDShV YHVH MShMYM 'aL-'aUrTSh HBYT.     For He hath looked From the high place of His sanctuary. Jehovah from heaven unto earth looked attentively,     quoniam prospexit de excelso sanctuario suo Dominus de caelo terram contemplatus est
 
21.    that men may declare the name of Yahweh in Zion, and his praise in Jerusalem;     To declare the name of the LORD in Zion, and his praise in Jerusalem;     לשמע  אנקת  אסיר 
לפתח  בני  תמותה׃
    LShM'y 'aNQTh 'aSYUr LPhThCh BNY ThMVThH.     To hear the groan of the prisoner, To loose sons of death,     ut audiret gemitum vincti ut solveret filios mortis
 
22.    when the peoples are gathered together, the kingdoms, to serve Yahweh.     When the people are gathered together, and the kingdoms, to serve the LORD.     לספר  בציון  שם 
יהוה  ותהלתו
בירושלם׃
    LSPhUr BTShYVN ShM YHVH VThHLThV BYUrVShLM.     To declare in Zion the name of Jehovah, And His praise in Jerusalem,     ut narretur in Sion nomen Domini et laudatio eius in Hierusalem
 
23.    He weakened my strength along the course. He shortened my days.     He weakened my strength in the way; he shortened my days.     בהקבץ  עמים  יחדו 
וממלכות  לעבד
את־יהוה׃
    BHQBTSh 'yMYM YChDV VMMLKVTh L'yBD 'aTh-YHVH.     In the peoples being gathered together, And the kingdoms -- to serve Jehovah.     cum congregati fuerint populi simul et regna ut serviant Domino
 
24.    I said, "My God, don't take me away in the midst of my days. Your years are throughout all generations.     I said, O my God, take me not away in the midst of my days: thy years are throughout all generations.     ענה  בדרך  כחו  קצר 
ימי׃
    'yNH BDUrK KChV QTShUr YMY.     He hath humbled in the way my power, He hath shortened my days.     adflixit in via fortitudinem meam adbreviavit dies meos
 
25.    Of old, you laid the foundation of the earth. The heavens are the work of your hands.     Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands.     אמר  אלי  אל־תעלני 
בחצי  ימי  בדור
דורים  שנותיך׃
    'aMUr 'aLY 'aL-Th'yLNY BChTShY YMY BDVUr DVUrYM ShNVThYK.     I say, `My God, take me not up in the midst of my days,` Through all generations are Thine years.     dicam Deus meus ne rapias me in dimidio dierum meorum in generatione generationum anni tui
 
26.    They will perish, but you will endure. Yes, all of them will wear out like a garment. You will change them like a cloak, and they will be changed.     They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed:     לפנים  הארץ  יסדת 
ומעשה  ידיך  שמים׃
    LPhNYM H'aUrTSh YSDTh VM'yShH YDYK ShMYM.     Beforetime the earth Thou didst found, And the work of Thy hands are the heavens.     a principio terram fundasti et opus manuum tuarum caeli
 
27.    But you are the same. Your years will have no end.     But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end.     המה  יאבדו  ואתה 
תעמד  וכלם  כבגד
יבלו  כלבוש  תחליפם
ויחלפו׃
    HMH Y'aBDV V'aThH Th'yMD VKLM KBGD YBLV KLBVSh ThChLYPhM VYChLPhV.     They -- They perish, and Thou remainest, And all of them as a garment become old, As clothing Thou changest them, And they are changed.     ipsi peribunt tu autem stabis et omnes quasi vestimentum adterentur et quasi pallium mutabis illos et mutabuntur
 
28.    The children of your servants will continue. Their seed will be established before you."     The children of thy servants shall continue, and their seed shall be established before thee.     ואתה־הוא  ושנותיך 
לא  יתמו׃
    V'aThH-HV'a VShNVThYK L'a YThMV.     And Thou art the same, and Thine years are not finished.     tu autem ipse es et anni tui non deficient
