2.    Attend to me, and answer me. I am restless in my complaint, and moan,     Attend unto me, and hear me: I mourn in my complaint, and make a noise;     האזינה  אלהים 
תפלתי  ואל־תתעלם
מתחנתי׃
    H'aZYNH 'aLHYM ThPhLThY V'aL-ThTh'yLM MThChNThY.     Give ear, O God, to my prayer, And hide not from my supplication.     exaudi Deus orationem meam et ne dispicias deprecationem meam
 
3.    Because of the voice of the enemy, Because of the oppression of the wicked. For they bring suffering on me. In anger they hold a grudge against me.     Because of the voice of the enemy, because of the oppression of the wicked: for they cast iniquity upon me, and in wrath they hate me.     הקשיבה  לי  וענני 
אריד  בשיחי
ואהימה׃
    HQShYBH LY V'yNNY 'aUrYD BShYChY V'aHYMH.     Attend to me, and answer me, I mourn in my meditation, and make a noise,     adtende mihi et exaudi me humiliatus sum in meditatione mea et conturbatus
 
4.    My heart is severely pained within me. The terrors of death have fallen on me.     My heart is sore pained within me: and the terrors of death are fallen upon me.     מקול  אויב  מפני 
עקת  רשע  כי־ימיטו
עלי  און  ובאף
ישטמוני׃
    MQVL 'aVYB MPhNY 'yQTh UrSh'y KY-YMYTV 'yLY 'aVN VB'aPh YShTMVNY.     Because of the voice of an enemy, Because of the oppression of the wicked, For they cause sorrow to move against me, And in anger they hate me.     a voce inimici a facie persequentis impii quoniam proiecerunt super me iniquitatem et in furore adversabantur mihi
 
5.    Fearfulness and trembling have come on me. Horror has overwhelmed me.     Fearfulness and trembling are come upon me, and horror hath overwhelmed me.     לבי  יחיל  בקרבי 
ואימות  מות  נפלו
עלי׃
    LBY YChYL BQUrBY V'aYMVTh MVTh NPhLV 'yLY.     My heart is pained within me, And terrors of death have fallen on me.     cor meum doluit in vitalibus meis et terrores mortis ceciderunt super me
 
6.    I said, "Oh that I had wings like a dove! Then I would fly away, and be at rest.     And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly away, and be at rest.     יראה  ורעד  יבא  בי 
ותכסני  פלצות׃
    YUr'aH VUr'yD YB'a BY VThKSNY PhLTShVTh.     Fear and trembling come in to me, And horror doth cover me.     timor et tremor venit super me et operuit me caligo
 
7.    Behold, then I would wander far off. I would lodge in the wilderness." Selah.     Lo, then would I wander far off, and remain in the wilderness. Selah.     ואמר  מי־יתן־לי 
אבר  כיונה  אעופה
ואשכנה׃
    V'aMUr MY-YThN-LY 'aBUr KYVNH 'a'yVPhH V'aShKNH.     And I say, `Who doth give to me a pinion as a dove? I fly away and rest,     et dixi quis dabit mihi pinnas columbae ut volem et requiescam
 
8.    "I would hurry to a shelter from the stormy wind and storm."     I would hasten my escape from the windy storm and tempest.     הנה  ארחיק  נדד 
אלין  במדבר  סלה׃
    HNH 'aUrChYQ NDD 'aLYN BMDBUr SLH.     Lo, I move far off, I lodge in a wilderness. Selah.     ut procul abeam et commorer in deserto semper
 
9.    Confuse them, Lord, and confound their language, for I have seen violence and strife in the city.     Destroy, O Lord, and divide their tongues: for I have seen violence and strife in the city.     אחישה  מפלט  לי 
מרוח  סעה  מסער׃
    'aChYShH MPhLT LY MUrVCh S'yH MS'yUr.     I hasten escape for myself, From a rushing wind, from a whirlwind.     festinabo ut salver ab spiritu tempestatis et turbinis
 
10.    Day and night they prowl around on its walls. Malice and abuse are also within her.     Day and night they go about it upon the walls thereof: mischief also and sorrow are in the midst of it.     בלע  אדני  פלג 
לשונם  כי־ראיתי
חמס  וריב  בעיר׃
    BL'y 'aDNY PhLG LShVNM KY-Ur'aYThY ChMS VUrYB B'yYUr.     Swallow up, O Lord, divide their tongue, For I saw violence and strife in a city.     praecipita Domine divide linguas eorum quoniam vidi iniquitatem et contradictionem in civitate
 
11.    Destructive forces are within her. Threats and lies don't depart from her streets.     Wickedness is in the midst thereof: deceit and guile depart not from her streets.     יומם  ולילה  יסובבה 
על־חומתיה  ואון
ועמל  בקרבה׃
    YVMM VLYLH YSVBBH 'yL-ChVMThYH V'aVN V'yML BQUrBH.     By day and by night they go round it, on its walls. Both iniquity and perverseness are in its midst,     die et nocte circumeuntes muros eius scelus et dolorem in medio eius
 
12.    For it was not an enemy who insulted me, then I could have endured it. Neither was it he who hated me who raised himself up against me, then I would have hid myself from him.     For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it: neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him:     הוות  בקרבה 
ולא־ימיש  מרחבה  תך
ומרמה׃
    HVVTh BQUrBH VL'a-YMYSh MUrChBH ThK VMUrMH.     Mischiefs are in its midst. Fraud and deceit depart not from its street.     insidiae in vitalibus eius et non recedet de plateis eius damnum et fraudulentia
 
13.    But it was you, a man like me, my companion, and my familiar friend.     But it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance.     כי  לא־אויב  יחרפני 
ואשא  לא־משנאי  עלי
הגדיל  ואסתר  ממנו׃
    KY L'a-'aVYB YChUrPhNY V'aSh'a L'a-MShN'aY 'yLY HGDYL V'aSThUr MMNV.     For an enemy reproacheth me not, or I bear it, He who is hating me Hath not magnified himself against me, Or I hide from him.     non enim inimicus exprobravit mihi ut sustineam neque is qui me oderat super me magnificatus est ut abscondar ab eo
 
14.    We took sweet fellowship together. We walked in God's house with company.     We took sweet counsel together, and walked unto the house of God in company.     ואתה  אנוש  כערכי 
אלופי  ומידעי׃
    V'aThH 'aNVSh K'yUrKY 'aLVPhY VMYD'yY.     But thou, a man -- as mine equal, My familiar friend, and mine acquaintance.     sed tu homo unianimis meus dux meus et notus meus
 
15.    Let death come suddenly on them. Let them go down alive into Sheol{Sheol is the place of the dead.}. For wickedness is in their dwelling, in the midst of them.     Let death seize upon them, and let them go down quick into hell: for wickedness is in their dwellings, and among them.     אשר  יחדו  נמתיק 
סוד  בבית  אלהים
נהלך  ברגש׃
    'aShUr YChDV NMThYQ SVD BBYTh 'aLHYM NHLK BUrGSh.     When together we sweeten counsel, Into the house of God we walk in company.     qui simul habuimus dulce secretum in domo Dei ambulavimus in terrore
 
16.    As for me, I will call on God. Yahweh will save me.     As for me, I will call upon God; and the LORD shall save me.     ישימות  עלימו  ירדו 
שאול  חיים  כי־רעות
במגורם  בקרבם׃
    YShYMVTh 'yLYMV YUrDV Sh'aVL ChYYM KY-Ur'yVTh BMGVUrM BQUrBM.     Desolations are upon them, They go down to Sheol -- alive, For wickedness is in their dwelling, in their midst.     veniat mors super eos descendant in infernum viventes quia nequitiae in congregatione eorum et in medio eorum
 
17.    Evening, morning, and at noon, I will cry out in distress. He will hear my voice.     Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.     אני  אל־אלהים  אקרא 
ויהוה  יושיעני׃
    'aNY 'aL-'aLHYM 'aQUr'a VYHVH YVShY'yNY.     I -- to God I call, and Jehovah saveth me.     ego ad Deum clamabo et Dominus salvabit me
 
18.    He has redeemed my soul in peace from the battle that was against me, although there are many who oppose me.     He hath delivered my soul in peace from the battle that was against me: for there were many with me.     ערב  ובקר  וצהרים 
אשיחה  ואהמה  וישמע
קולי׃
    'yUrB VBQUr VTShHUrYM 'aShYChH V'aHMH VYShM'y QVLY.     Evening, and morning, and noon, I meditate, and make a noise, and He heareth my voice,     vespere et mane et meridie eloquar et resonabo et exaudiet vocem meam
 
19.    God, who is enthroned forever, will hear, and answer them. Selah.  They never change, who don't fear God.     God shall hear, and afflict them, even he that abideth of old. Selah. Because they have no changes, therefore they fear not God.     פדה  בשלום  נפשי 
מקרב־לי  כי־ברבים
היו  עמדי׃
    PhDH BShLVM NPhShY MQUrB-LY KY-BUrBYM HYV 'yMDY.     He hath ransomed in peace my soul From him who is near to me, For with the multitude they were with me.     redimet in pace animam meam ab adpropinquantibus mihi multi enim fuerunt adversum me
 
20.    He raises his hands against his friends. He has violated his covenant.     He hath put forth his hands against such as be at peace with him: he hath broken his covenant.     ישמע  אל  ויענם 
וישב  קדם  סלה  אשר
אין  חליפות  למו
ולא  יראו  אלהים׃
    YShM'y 'aL VY'yNM VYShB QDM SLH 'aShUr 'aYN ChLYPhVTh LMV VL'a YUr'aV 'aLHYM.     God doth hear and afflict them, And He sitteth of old. Selah. Because they have no changes, and fear not God,     exaudiet Deus et humiliabit eos qui iudex est ab initio semper non enim mutantur neque timent Deum
 
21.    His mouth was smooth as butter, but his heart was war. His words were softer than oil, yet they were drawn swords.     The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart: his words were softer than oil, yet were they drawn swords.     שלח  ידיו  בשלמיו 
חלל  בריתו׃
    ShLCh YDYV BShLMYV ChLL BUrYThV.     He hath sent forth his hands against his well-wishers, He hath polluted his covenant.     extendit manum suam ad pacifica sua contaminabit pactum suum
 
22.    Cast your burden on Yahweh, and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved.     Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.     חלקו  מחמאת  פיו 
וקרב־לבו  רכו
דבריו  משמן  והמה
פתחות׃
    ChLQV MChM'aTh PhYV VQUrB-LBV UrKV DBUrYV MShMN VHMH PhThChVTh.     Sweeter than honey hath been his mouth, And his heart is war! Softer have been his words than oil, And they are drawn swords.     nitidius butyro os eius pugnat autem cor illius molliores sermones eius oleo cum sint lanceae
 
23.    But you, God, will bring them down into the pit of destruction. Bloodthirsty and deceitful men shall not live out half their days, but I will trust in you.     But thou, O God, shalt bring them down into the pit of destruction: bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; but I will trust in thee.     השלך  על־יהוה  יהבך 
והוא  יכלכלך
לא־יתן  לעולם  מוט
לצדיק׃
    HShLK 'yL-YHVH YHBK VHV'a YKLKLK L'a-YThN L'yVLM MVT LTShDYQ.     Cast on Jehovah that which He hath given thee, And He doth sustain thee, He doth not suffer for ever the moving of the righteous.     proice super Dominum caritatem tuam et ipse enutriet te non dabit in aeternum fluctuationem iusto
