והיה כי־יביאך יהוה אל־ארץ הכנעני והחתי והאמרי והחוי והיבוסי אשר נשבע לאבתיך לתת לך ארץ זבת חלב ודבש ועבדת את־העבדה הזאת בחדש הזה׃ |

והיה כי־יבאך יהוה אל־ארץ הכנעני כאשר נשבע לך ולאבתיך ונתנה לך׃ |

| 12. | that you shall set apart to Yahweh all that opens the womb, and every firstborn which you have that comes from an animal. והיה כי־ישאלך בנך מחר לאמר מה־זאת ואמרת אליו בחזק יד הוציאנו יהוה ממצרים מבית עבדים׃ |
VHYH KY-YSh'aLK BNK MChUr L'aMUr MH-Z'aTh V'aMUrTh 'aLYV BChZQ YD HVTShY'aNV YHVH MMTShUrYM MBYTh 'yBDYM. | `And it hath been, when thy son asketh thee hereafter, saying, What is this? that thou hast said unto him, By strength of hand hath Jehovah brought us out from Egypt, from a house of servants; | cumque interrogaverit te filius tuus cras dicens quid est hoc respondebis ei in manu forti eduxit nos Dominus de Aegypto de domo servitutis | |||||
| 15. | and it happened, when Pharaoh would hardly let us go, that Yahweh killed all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both the firstborn of man, and the firstborn of animal. Therefore I sacrifice to Yahweh all that opens the womb, being males; but all the firstborn of my sons I redeem.' | And it came to pass, when Pharaoh would hardly let us go, that the LORD slew all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both the firstborn of man, and the firstborn of beast: therefore I sacrifice to the LORD all that openeth the matrix, being males; but all the firstborn of my children I redeem. |
