1.    The king's heart is in Yahweh's hand like the watercourses. He turns it wherever he desires.     The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.     פלגי־מים  לב־מלך

יטנו׃
    PhLGY-MYM LB-MLK BYD-YHVH 'yL-KL-'aShUr YChPhTSh YTNV.     Rivulets of waters is the heart of a king in the hand of Jehovah, Wherever He pleaseth He inclineth it.     sicut divisiones aquarum ita cor regis in manu Domini quocumque voluerit inclinabit illud
 
2.    Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but Yahweh weighs the hearts.     Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts.     כל־דרך־איש  ישר 
בעיניו  ותכן  לבות
יהוה׃
    KL-DUrK-'aYSh YShUr B'yYNYV VThKN LBVTh YHVH.     Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, And Jehovah is pondering hearts.     omnis via viri recta sibi videtur adpendit autem corda Dominus
 
3.    To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to Yahweh than sacrifice.     To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.     עשה  צדקה  ומשפט 
נבחר  ליהוה  מזבח׃
    'yShH TShDQH VMShPhT NBChUr LYHVH MZBCh.     To do righteousness and judgment, Is chosen of Jehovah rather than sacrifice.     facere misericordiam et iudicium magis placent Domino quam victimae
 
4.    A high look, and a proud heart, the lamp of the wicked, is sin.     An high look, and a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked, is sin.     רום־עינים  ורחב־לב 
נר  רשעים  חטאת׃
    UrVM-'yYNYM VUrChB-LB NUr UrSh'yYM ChT'aTh.     Loftiness of eyes, and breadth of heart, Tillage of the wicked is sin.     exaltatio oculorum et dilatatio cordis lucerna impiorum peccatum
 
5.    The plans of the diligent surely lead to profit; and everyone who is hasty surely rushes to poverty.     The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty only to want.     מחשבות  חרוץ 
אך־למותר  וכל־אץ
אך־למחסור׃
    MChShBVTh ChUrVTSh 'aK-LMVThUr VKL-'aTSh 'aK-LMChSVUr.     The purposes of the diligent are only to advantage, And of every hasty one, only to want.     cogitationes robusti semper in abundantia omnis autem piger semper in egestate
 
6.    Getting treasures by a lying tongue is a fleeting vapor for those who seek death.     The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death.     פעל  אוצרות  בלשון

מבקשי־מות׃
    Ph'yL 'aVTShUrVTh BLShVN ShQUr HBL NDPh MBQShY-MVTh.     The making of treasures by a lying tongue, Is a vanity driven away of those seeking death.     qui congregat thesauros lingua mendacii vanus est et inpingetur ad laqueos mortis
 
7.    The violence of the wicked will drive them away, because they refuse to do what is right.     The robbery of the wicked shall destroy them; because they refuse to do judgment.     שד־רשעים  יגורם  כי 
מאנו  לעשות  משפט׃
    ShD-UrSh'yYM YGVUrM KY M'aNV L'yShVTh MShPhT.     The spoil of the wicked catcheth them, Because they have refused to do judgment.     rapinae impiorum detrahent eos quia noluerunt facere iudicium
 
8.    The way of the guilty is devious, but the conduct of the innocent is upright.     The way of man is froward and strange: but as for the pure, his work is right.     הפכפך  דרך  איש  וזר 
וזך  ישר  פעלו׃
    HPhKPhK DUrK 'aYSh VZUr VZK YShUr Ph'yLV.     Froward is the way of a man who is vile, And the pure -- upright is his work.     perversa via viri aliena est qui autem mundus est rectum opus eius
 
9.    It is better to dwell in the corner of the housetop, than to share a house with a contentious woman.     It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman in a wide house.     טוב  לשבת 
על־פנת־גג  מאשת
מדינים  ובית  חבר׃
    TVB LShBTh 'yL-PhNTh-GG M'aShTh MDYNYM VBYTh ChBUr.     Better to sit on a corner of the roof, Than with a woman of contentions and a house of company.     melius est sedere in angulo domatis quam cum muliere litigiosa et in domo communi
 
10.    The soul of the wicked desires evil; his neighbor finds no mercy in his eyes.     The soul of the wicked desireth evil: his neighbour findeth no favour in his eyes.     נפש  רשע  אותה־רע 
לא־יחן  בעיניו
רעהו׃
    NPhSh UrSh'y 'aVThH-Ur'y L'a-YChN B'yYNYV Ur'yHV.     The soul of the wicked hath desired evil, Not gracious in his eyes is his neighbour.     anima impii desiderat malum non miserebitur proximo suo
 
11.    When the mocker is punished, the simple gains wisdom. When the wise is instructed, he receives knowledge.     When the scorner is punished, the simple is made wise: and when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge.     בענש־לץ  יחכם־פתי 
ובהשכיל  לחכם
יקח־דעת׃
    B'yNSh-LTSh YChKM-PhThY VBHShKYL LChKM YQCh-D'yTh.     When the scorner is punished, the simple becometh wise, And in giving understanding to the wise He receiveth knowledge.     multato pestilente sapientior erit parvulus et si sectetur sapientem sumet scientiam
 
12.    The Righteous One considers the house of the wicked, and brings the wicked to ruin.     The righteous man wisely considereth the house of the wicked: but God overthroweth the wicked for their wickedness.     משכיל  צדיק  לבית 
רשע  מסלף  רשעים
לרע׃
    MShKYL TShDYQ LBYTh UrSh'y MSLPh UrSh'yYM LUr'y.     The Righteous One is acting wisely Towards the house of the wicked, He is overthrowing the wicked for wickedness.     excogitat iustus de domo impii ut detrahat impios in malum
 
13.    Whoever stops his ears at the cry of the poor, he will also cry out, but shall not be heard.     Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard.     אטם  אזנו  מזעקת־דל 
גם־הוא  יקרא  ולא
יענה׃
    'aTM 'aZNV MZ'yQTh-DL GM-HV'a YQUr'a VL'a Y'yNH.     Whoso is shutting his ear from the cry of the poor, He also doth cry, and is not answered.     qui obturat aurem suam ad clamorem pauperis et ipse clamabit et non exaudietur
 
14.    A gift in secret pacifies anger; and a bribe in the cloak, strong wrath.     A gift in secret pacifieth anger: and a reward in the bosom strong wrath.     מתן  בסתר  יכפה־אף 
ושחד  בחק  חמה  עזה׃
    MThN BSThUr YKPhH-'aPh VShChD BChQ ChMH 'yZH.     A gift in secret pacifieth anger, And a bribe in the bosom strong fury.     munus absconditum extinguet iras et donum in sinu indignationem maximam
 
15.    It is joy to the righteous to do justice; but it is a destruction to the workers of iniquity.     It is joy to the just to do judgment: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.     שמחה  לצדיק  עשות 
משפט  ומחתה  לפעלי

    ShMChH LTShDYQ 'yShVTh MShPhT VMChThH LPh'yLY 'aVN.     To do justice is joy to the righteous, But ruin to workers of iniquity.     gaudium iusto est facere iudicium et pavor operantibus iniquitatem
 
16.    The man who wanders out of the way of understanding shall rest in the assembly of the dead.     The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.     אדם  תועה  מדרך 
השכל  בקהל  רפאים
ינוח׃
    'aDM ThV'yH MDUrK HShKL BQHL UrPh'aYM YNVCh.     A man who is wandering from the way of understanding, In an assembly of Rephaim resteth.     vir qui erraverit a via doctrinae in coetu gigantum commorabitur
 
17.    He who loves pleasure shall be a poor man. He who loves wine and oil shall not be rich.     He that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.     איש  מחסור  אהב 
שמחה  אהב  יין־ושמן
לא  יעשיר׃
    'aYSh MChSVUr 'aHB ShMChH 'aHB YYN-VShMN L'a Y'yShYUr.     Whoso is loving mirth is a poor man, Whoso is loving wine and oil maketh no wealth.     qui diligit epulas in egestate erit qui amat vinum et pinguia non ditabitur
 
18.    The wicked is a ransom for the righteous; the treacherous for the upright.     The wicked shall be a ransom for the righteous, and the transgressor for the upright.     כפר  לצדיק  רשע 
ותחת  ישרים  בוגד׃
    KPhUr LTShDYQ UrSh'y VThChTh YShUrYM BVGD.     The wicked is an atonement for the righteous, And for the upright the treacherous dealer.     pro iusto datur impius et pro rectis iniquus
 
19.    It is better to dwell in a desert land, than with a contentious and fretful woman.     It is better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman.     טוב  שבת  בארץ־מדבר 
מאשת  מדונים  וכעס׃
    TVB ShBTh B'aUrTSh-MDBUr M'aShTh MDVNYM VK'yS.     Better to dwell in a wilderness land, Than with a woman of contentions and anger.     melius est habitare in terra deserta quam cum muliere rixosa et iracunda
 
20.    There is precious treasure and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man swallows it up.     There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.     אוצר  נחמד  ושמן 
בנוה  חכם  וכסיל
אדם  יבלענו׃
    'aVTShUr NChMD VShMN BNVH ChKM VKSYL 'aDM YBL'yNV.     A treasure to be desired, and oil, Is in the habitation of the wise, And a foolish man swalloweth it up.     thesaurus desiderabilis et oleum in habitaculo iusti et inprudens homo dissipabit illud
 
21.    He who follows after righteousness and kindness finds life, righteousness, and honor.     He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour.     רדף  צדקה  וחסד 
ימצא  חיים  צדקה
וכבוד׃
    UrDPh TShDQH VChSD YMTSh'a ChYYM TShDQH VKBVD.     Whoso is pursuing righteousness and kindness, Findeth life, righteousness, and honour.     qui sequitur iustitiam et misericordiam inveniet vitam et iustitiam et gloriam
 
22.    A wise man scales the city of the mighty, and brings down the strength of its confidence.     A wise man scaleth the city of the mighty, and casteth down the strength of the confidence thereof.     עיר  גברים  עלה  חכם 
וירד  עז  מבטחה׃
    'yYUr GBUrYM 'yLH ChKM VYUrD 'yZ MBTChH.     A city of the mighty hath the wise gone up, And bringeth down the strength of its confidence.     civitatem fortium ascendit sapiens et destruxit robur fiduciae eius
 
23.    Whoever guards his mouth and his tongue keeps his soul from troubles.     Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.     שמר  פיו  ולשונו 
שמר  מצרות  נפשו׃
    ShMUr PhYV VLShVNV ShMUr MTShUrVTh NPhShV.     Whoso is keeping his mouth and his tongue, Is keeping from adversities his soul.     qui custodit os suum et linguam suam custodit ab angustiis animam suam
 
24.    The proud and haughty man, "scoffer" is his name; he works in the arrogance of pride.     Proud and haughty scorner is his name, who dealeth in proud wrath.     זד  יהיר  לץ  שמו 
עושה  בעברת  זדון׃
    ZD YHYUr LTSh ShMV 'yVShH B'yBUrTh ZDVN.     Proud, haughty, scorner is his name, Who is working in the wrath of pride.     superbus et arrogans vocatur indoctus qui in ira operatur superbiam
 
25.    The desire of the sluggard kills him, for his hands refuse to labor.     The desire of the slothful killeth him; for his hands refuse to labour.     תאות  עצל  תמיתנו 
כי־מאנו  ידיו
לעשות׃
    Th'aVTh 'yTShL ThMYThNV KY-M'aNV YDYV L'yShVTh.     The desire of the slothful slayeth him, For his hands have refused to work.     desideria occidunt pigrum noluerunt enim quicquam manus eius operari
 
26.    There are those who covet greedily all day long; but the righteous give and don't withhold.     He coveteth greedily all the day long: but the righteous giveth and spareth not.     כל־היום  התאוה 
תאוה  וצדיק  יתן
ולא  יחשך׃
    KL-HYVM HTh'aVH Th'aVH VTShDYQ YThN VL'a YChShK.     All the day desiring he hath desired, And the righteous giveth and withholdeth not.     tota die concupiscit et desiderat qui autem iustus est tribuet et non cessabit
 
27.    The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination: how much more, when he brings it with a wicked mind!     The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination: how much more, when he bringeth it with a wicked mind?     זבח  רשעים  תועבה 
אף  כי־בזמה
יביאנו׃
    ZBCh UrSh'yYM ThV'yBH 'aPh KY-BZMH YBY'aNV.     The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination, Much more when in wickedness he bringeth it.     hostiae impiorum abominabiles quia offeruntur ex scelere
 
28.    A false witness will perish, and a man who listens speaks to eternity.     A false witness shall perish: but the man that heareth speaketh constantly.     עד־כזבים  יאבד 
ואיש  שומע  לנצח
ידבר׃
    'yD-KZBYM Y'aBD V'aYSh ShVM'y LNTShCh YDBUr.     A false witness doth perish, And an attentive man for ever speaketh.     testis mendax peribit vir oboediens loquitur victoriam
 
29.    A wicked man hardens his face; but as for the upright, he establishes his ways.     A wicked man hardeneth his face: but as for the upright, he directeth his way.     העז  איש  רשע  בפניו 
וישר  הוא  יכין
דרכיו׃
    H'yZ 'aYSh UrSh'y BPhNYV VYShUr HV'a YKYN DUrKYV.     A wicked man hath hardened by his face, And the upright -- he prepareth his way.     vir impius procaciter obfirmat vultum suum qui autem rectus est corrigit viam suam
 
30.    There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against Yahweh.     There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.     אין  חכמה  ואין 
תבונה  ואין  עצה
לנגד  יהוה׃
    'aYN ChKMH V'aYN ThBVNH V'aYN 'yTShH LNGD YHVH.     There is no wisdom, nor understanding, Nor counsel, over-against Jehovah.     non est sapientia non est prudentia non est consilium contra Dominum
 
31.    The horse is prepared for the day of battle; but victory is with Yahweh.     The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the LORD.     סוס  מוכן  ליום 
מלחמה  וליהוה
התשועה׃
    SVS MVKN LYVM MLChMH VLYHVH HThShV'yH.     A horse is prepared for a day of battle, And the deliverance is of Jehovah!     equus paratur ad diem belli Dominus autem salutem tribuet
