As it is written: "How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the Good News of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things!"{Isaiah 52:7} | And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! | πως δε κηρυξωσιν εαν μη αποσταλωσιν καθως γεγραπται ως ωραιοι οι ποδες των ευαγγελιζομενων [τα] αγαθα | and how shall they preach, if they may not be sent? according as it hath been written, `How beautiful the feet of those proclaiming good tidings of peace, of those proclaiming good tidings of the good things!` | quomodo vero praedicabunt nisi mittantur sicut scriptum est quam speciosi pedes evangelizantium pacem evangelizantium bona | ||||
| 16. | But they didn't all listen to the glad news. For Isaiah says, "Lord, who has believed our report?"{Isaiah 53:1} | But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? | αλλ ου παντες υπηκουσαν τω ευαγγελιω ησαιας γαρ λεγει κυριε τις επιστευσεν τη ακοη ημων | But they were not all obedient to the good tidings, for Isaiah saith, `Lord, who did give credence to our report?` | sed non omnes oboedierunt evangelio Esaias enim dicit Domine quis credidit auditui nostro | ||||
| 17. | So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. | So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. | αρα η πιστις εξ ακοης η δε ακοη δια ρηματος χριστου | so then the faith is by a report, and the report through a saying of God, | ergo fides ex auditu auditus autem per verbum Christi | ||||
| 18. | But I say, didn't they hear? Yes, most certainly, "Their sound went out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world."{Psalm 19:4} | But I say, Have they not heard? First Moses says, "I will provoke you to jealousy with that which is no nation, with a nation void of understanding I will make you angry."{Deuteronomy 32:31} | But I say, Did not Israel know? | 21. | But as to Israel he says, "All day long I stretched out my hands to a disobedient and contrary people."{Isaiah 65:2} | But to Israel he saith, All day long I have stretched forth my hands unto a disobedient and gainsaying people. | προς δε τον ισραηλ λεγει ολην την ημεραν εξεπετασα τας χειρας μου προς λαον απειθουντα και αντιλεγοντα | and unto Israel He saith, `All the day I did stretch out My hands unto a people unbelieving and gainsaying.` | ad Israhel autem dicit tota die expandi manus meas ad populum non credentem et contradicentem | ||||
